We return to our beloved South Tyrol and this time we go to the municipality of Meransen, on a plateau at an altitude of 1400 meters above the Valle d'Isarco. "At 1400 meters above everyday life", this is the motto of the hotel that we take you to discover.
We are talking about the Gitschberg Boutique BioHotel of the Peintner family, a few steps from the town of Meransen and very close to the facilities of the Rio di Pusteria ski area with over 55 kilometers of slopes. A structure, with ClimaHotel certification, perfectly matched with the environment that surrounds it.
Wir kehren zurück in unser geliebtes Südtirol und diesmal nach Meransen, auf einem Hochplateau in 1400 Metern Höhe über dem Eisacktal. „1400 Meter über dem Alltag“, ist das Motto des Hotels, zu dessen Entdeckung wir dich mitnehmen.
Wir sprechen über das Boutique Biohotel Gitschberg der Familie Peintner, nur einen Fußmarsch von Meransen entfernt und in unmittelbarer Nähe der Aufstiegsanlagen ins Skigebiet Gitschberg Jochtal mit über 55 Pistenkilometern. Eine Struktur mit KlimaHotel-Zertifizierung, die sich perfekt in die naturnahe Umgebung einfügt.
At the reception (with a huge and beautiful wooden counter) we find Manuela who welcomes us with a smile that makes us feel welcome immediately. The Gitschberg experience begins in the best possible way, a good glass of prosecco in front of the fireplace... what a wonderful atmosphere!
An der Rezeption (mit einer imposanten und schönen Holztheke) werden wir von Manuela mit einem Lächeln begrüßt. Sie gibt uns sofort das Gefühl, willkommen zu sein. Das Gitschberg-Erlebnis beginnt auf die bestmögliche Art und Weise: mit einem guten Glas Südtiroler Sekt vor dem Kamin... was für eine wunderbare Atmosphäre!
There are 38 rooms and suites at the Gitschberg. We stayed in 305, a suite with a modern design and typical South Tyrolean materials with a balcony facing the village of Meransen and the surrounding mountains. The rooms here are spacious, basic and modern at the same time.
Im Gitschberg gibt es 38 Zimmer und Suiten, wir wohnen im Kofla 305, einem Panoramazimmer in modernem Design, mit typischen Südtiroler Materialien und Balkon sowie Blick auf das Dorf Meransen und die umliegende Bergwelt. Die Zimmer hier sind geräumig, schlicht und modern zugleich.
Staying at the Gitschberg means getting away from the daily routine and stress. The Wellness area and the Fenilia Spa take care of this. Steam bath, infrared sauna, bio hay sauna and a spectacular panoramic Finnish sauna in the garden with mountain views. This is what awaits you at the Gitschberg hotel. But that's not all, to relax and recover your energy there is the Hay Lounge, a relaxation room with alpine hay that gives a wonderful scent, and lots of spaces where you can indulge in the tranquility and serenity that this place can offer.
Der Urlaub im Gitschberg bedeutet Abstand von Alltag und Stress. Dafür sorgen der Wellnessbereich und das Fenilia Spa. Dampfbad, Infrarotsauna, Bio-Heusauna und eine spektakuläre finnische Panoramasauna im Garten mit Bergblick erwarten dich. Aber das ist noch nicht alles. Für Rundum-Entspannung und neue Energie gibt es die Heu-Lounge, einen Ruheraum mit herrlich duftendem Almheu und viele Orte, an denen du dich der Ruhe und Gelassenheit hingeben kannst.
The Wellness area is completed by the heated panoramic swimming pool with a direct view of the mountains. Swimming at sunset with the fire in a brazier lit and the sky taking color behind the bell tower of the village of Meransen is an experience that we will remember for a while.
Der Wellnessbereich wird durch den nachhaltig beheizten Panorama-Bergpool mit direktem Blick auf die Dolomiten-Berge ergänzt. Bei Sonnenuntergang zu schwimmen, während knisterndes Feuer in der Feuerschale lodert und der Himmel hinter dem Glockenturm von Meransen Farbe annimmt, ist ein Erlebnis, an das wir uns noch lange erinnern werden.
At the Gitschberg Boutique BioHotel the difference is made by the staff. Captaining the family are Barbara and Horst Peintner thanks to whom cordiality and sympathy pamper the guests from their arrival until the moment of departure.

Can we not talk about the kitchen and the food? Absolutely not! The (organic) dishes of the Gitschberg Restaurant are a perfect mix of beauty and goodness. Not to mention the breakfast and the snack offered every afternoon with homemade cakes and sweets, perfect for refreshment after a day spent skiing or immersed in the nature of the Meransen plateau.
Wollen wir noch über die Küche sprechen? Ja, natürlich! Die Gerichte der Bio-Naturkuchl im Gitschberg sind eine perfekte Mischung aus Augenschmaus und Genusserlebnis. Ganz zu schweigen vom Frühstück und der Marende, die jeden Nachmittag mit hausgemachten Kuchen und Snacks umrahmt. Eine perfekte Stärkung nach einem erlebnisreichen Tag auf der Piste oder inmitten der Meransner Natur.
