10 THINGS TO SEE in ZHANGJIAJIE

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is one of China's most spectacular natural landscapes and inspired the floating mountains in the film Avatar. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is famous for its thousands of imposing sandstone columns rising through dense forests and deep valleys. Scenic trails, observation points, and cable cars allow you to explore a unique setting, where nature seems to have emerged from a fantasy world.

Avatar Hallelujah Mountain
Avatar Hallelujah Mountain is undoubtedly Zhangjiajie's most famous peak. This spectacular column of rock, over 1,000 meters high, inspired the legendary floating mountains of the planet Pandora in the film Avatar. Surrounded by dense vegetation and often shrouded in fog, it offers a surreal setting that seems suspended between heaven and earth.
Tianzi Mountain
Tianzi Mountain offers some of the most spectacular views of the entire Zhangjiajie Park. From its natural terraces you can admire hundreds of rocky pinnacles emerging from the clouds creating a truly breathtaking landscape. The panoramic cable cars and numerous observation points allow you to have an unforgettable experience, especially in the early hours of the morning or at sunset.
Yuanjiajie Scenic Area
Yuanjiajie is one of the most famous scenic areas of Zhangjiajie National Park. Some of the most iconic vantage points are located here, including the famous "First Bridge Under Heaven," a natural rock bridge suspended between two mountains. The trails lead through forests, pinnacles and spectacular views that have made this area famous throughout the world.
Golden Whip Stream
The Golden Whip Stream is a scenic trail that runs alongside a crystal-clear stream at the foot of the gigantic Zhangjiajie Mountains. Along the way, nestled in a lush forest, you can encounter monkeys, listen to the sound of the water, and admire spectacular rock formations from a completely different perspective than the viewpoints at high altitude. It's a relaxing walk suitable for everyone.
Bailong Elevator
The Bailong Elevator is the tallest open-air panoramic elevator in the world. Built directly on the face of a mountain, it connects the valley floor with the top of spectacular rock formations in less than two minutes. Glass cabins offer breathtaking views of the cliffs and forest, making the simple ride one of Zhangjiajie's most exciting experiences.

Tianmen Mountain
Tianmen Mountain is one of the most spectacular attractions in China. It is reached via one of the longest cable cars in the world, which flies over valleys, woods and mountains. At the top are the famous natural arch called the "Gate of Paradise", walkways suspended along the rock walls and the famous Glass Skywalk, which offers unique emotions to those who do not suffer from vertigo.

Huanglong Cave
Huanglong Cave is one of the largest and most fascinating karst caves in China. Inside, there are huge halls decorated with stalactites, stalagmites and spectacular limestone formations illuminated by plays of light. Part of the visit also takes place aboard a small boat crossing an underground river, making the experience even more evocative and engaging.

Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge is one of the tallest and longest in the world. Suspended about 300 meters above the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, it offers incredible views of the surrounding landscape thanks to its completely transparent floor. Crossing it is an adrenaline-filled experience that attracts visitors from all over the world seeking thrills and breathtaking views.

72 Strange Building
The 72 Strange Building is one of the most curious and scenic places in Zhangjiajie. This huge architectural complex, inspired by ancient traditional Chinese dwellings, features stacked buildings, colorful lanterns, shows, restaurants, and shops. At night, thanks to the spectacular lighting, it transforms into a fairytale setting reminiscent of fantasy film sets and offers splendid photographic opportunities.

TRAVEL TIPS about ZHANGJIAJIE by World Mappers
Rent a traditional dress for dream photos! If you want to take home a truly special memory, rent a hanfu, the traditional Chinese dress, or a costume of the Tujia ethnic minority, originally from this region. Near the main attractions you will find numerous shops offering affordable clothes, hairstyles and professional photography services. Wearing a traditional costume among the spectacular mountains of Zhangjiajie will make your photographs even more evocative, creating images that look like they came straight from a fantasy film.
Watch out for Zhangjiajie and Wulingyuan! Many travelers think they are the same thing, but in reality they point to different areas. Zhangjiajie is the main city, where there are hotels, restaurants, train stations and access to Tianmen Mountain. Wulingyuan, on the other hand, is the district that is home to the National Forest Park, Avatar Hallelujah Mountain, Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain and Bailong Elevator. Choosing where to stay based on your itinerary can save you a lot of travel time and make your trip significantly more convenient.
