We have always loved autumn with its warm tones that color the landscape. One of the most beautiful areas to admire the autumn foliage is definitely South Tyrol and we have decided to stay in a structure in direct contact with nature, to be enveloped by the magic of this season.

Wir haben den Herbst mit seinen warmen Tönen immer geliebt, die die Landschaft färben. Ein der schönsten Orte, um das Herbstlaub zu bewundern, ist definitiv Südtirol. Wir haben uns entschlossen, in einer Struktur zu bleiben, die in direktem Kontakt mit der Natur steht, um von der Magie dieser Saison eingehüllt zu werden.

For our romantic autumn getaway we were guests of the Hotel Saltus, an Eco Hotel in San Genesio, at 1,100 meters above sea level right above Bolzano. The Saltus Hotel is the first Eco Hotel in South Tyrol. Why Eco Hotel? Because the structure is attentive to the protection of the environment, designed and built with sustainable materials coming from South Tyrol, such as larch wood and red porphyry. Furthermore, the structure fits perfectly into the mountain environment in which it stands, the rooms are "wedged" together as in a honeycomb and the materials with which they are furnished recall nature, but we do not want to anticipate you too much.

Für unser romantisches Herbstwochenende waren wir Gäste des Hotel Saltus, eines Öko-Hotels in San Genesio, auf 1.100 Metern direkt über Bozen. Das Saltus Hotel ist das erste Öko-Hotel in Südtirol. Warum Eco Hotel? Weil die Struktur auf den Schutz der Umwelt achtet und mit nachhaltigen Materialien aus Südtirol wie Lärchenholz und rotem Porphyr entworfen und gebaut wurde. Darüber hinaus passt die Struktur perfekt in die Bergumgebung, in der sie steht, die Räume sind wie in einer Wabe "eingeklemmt" und die Materialien, mit denen sie eingerichtet sind, erinnern an die Natur, aber wir möchten ihr nicht zu sehr vorwegnehmen.

The road from Bolzano to the village of San Genesio at this time of year (autumn) is simply spectacular. We had never seen such strong and vivid colors, a truly unique emotion. Once at the Saltus, we find Hedwig, a nice lady who carries on her father's fantastic work together with her two daughters Claudia and Nadja, to welcome us. Speaking with Hedwig, his family and the Saltus staff emerges the deep passion for a job that has become a real life mission.

Die Straße von Bozen nach Jenesien zu dieser Jahreszeit (Herbst) ist einfach spektakulär. Wir hatten noch nie so starke und lebendige Farben gesehen, eine wirklich einzigartige Emotion. Als im Saltus angekommen, finden wir Hedwig, eine nette Dame, die zusammen mit ihren beiden Töchtern Claudia und Nadja die fantastische Arbeit ihres Vaters fortsetzt. Im Gespräch mit Hedwig, seiner Familie und den Mitarbeitern von Saltus entsteht die tiefe Leidenschaft für einen Job, der zu einer echten Mission geworden ist.

Entering the hall we are immediately amazed: a completely glass wall allows you to see the forest in front of the hotel and the peaks of the Dolomites in the background. Being welcomed here with a good cup of hot tea or a delicious glass of local wine can only be the perfect start to an equally perfect weekend.

Beim Betreten der Halle staunen wir sofort: durch eine komplett verglaste Wand könnt ihr den Wald vor dem Hotel und die Gipfel der Dolomiten im Hintergrund sehen. Hier mit einer guten Tasse heißen Tees oder einem guten Glas Wein aus der Region begrüßt zu werden, kann nur der perfekte Start in ein ebenso perfektes Wochenende sein.

It's time to discover our room. All the rooms of the Hotel Saltus can be described with two words: Elegant and Essential. Bright and spacious suites where everything recalls nature: the wood, the raw lime and clay floors (wonderful) and the bathroom sink made from a stone. The name of our suite immediately fascinated us: Balcony in the Forest. Upon entering, we felt right in the middle of a forest. Here too, a huge window overlooking the trees, indeed in the middle of the trees... from the balcony it seemed to be able to touch the branches. Falling asleep in the evening with the rustle of the wind in the trees and waking up in the morning in such a magical and unique setting is really priceless.

Es ist Zeit, unser Zimmer zu entdecken. Alle Zimmer des Hotels Saltus können mit zwei Worten beschrieben werden: Elegant und Essential. Helle und geräumige Suiten, in denen alles an die Natur erinnert: das Holz, die rohen Kalk- und Lehmböden (wunderbar) und das Waschbecken aus Stein. Der Name unserer Suite hat uns sofort fasziniert: Loggia im Wald. Als wir eintraten, fühlten wir uns mitten in einem Wald. Auch hier ein riesiges Fenster mit Blick auf die Bäume, tatsächlich mitten in den Bäumen... vom Balkon aus schien es in der Lage zu sein, die Zweige zu berühren. Abends mit dem Rascheln des Windes in den Bäumen einzuschlafen und morgens in einer magischen und einzigartigen Umgebung aufzuwachen, ist wirklich unbezahlbar.

Get in touch with nature, let yourself relax and unplug. This is the reason why you come here. And if you think you are not ready for all this, the hotel gives you a little help: there is no TV in the rooms (such a wonderful thing) and at midnight the wifi switches off. In this way, one cannot help but contemplate the beauty that surrounds the Hotel Saltus.

Nimmt Kontakt mit der Natur auf, überlasst ihr euch, um sich zu entspannen und den Stecker zu ziehen. Hier ist der Grund, warum ihr hierher kommt. Und wenn ihr denkt, dass ihr für das alles nicht bereit sind, hilft euch das Hotel ein wenig: Es gibt keinen Fernseher in den Zimmern (wie wunderbar) und um Mitternacht schaltet sich das WLAN aus. Auf diese Weise kann man nicht anders, als die Schönheit zu betrachten, die das Hotel Saltus umgibt.

But that's not all. We can't talk about relax without introducing you to the fantastic Forest Spa. There could be no more appropriate name than this. A wellness area literally in contact with the forest. The relaxation room at the level of the forest features huge windows overlooking the trees, a Turkish bath and a spa that left us speechless. We thought a lot how to describe it but we decided that the photos speak for us, so as not to run the risk of not doing justice to so much beauty. But we can say one thing, we will never forget the first time we entered the sauna and the spectacle of trees dyed in autumn colors presented itself in front of us.

Aber das ist nicht alles. Wir können nicht über Entspannung sprechen, ohne euch das fantastische Forest Spa vorzustellen. Es gibt keinen passenderen Namen als diesen. Ein Wellnessbereich, der buchstäblich mit dem Wald in Kontakt steht. Der Ruheraum auf der Ebene des Waldes verfügt über riesige Fenster mit Blick auf die Bäume, ein Türkisches Bad und ein Spa, das uns sprachlos machte. Wir haben viel darüber nachgedacht, wie wir es beschreiben sollen, aber wir haben beschlossen, dass die Fotos für uns sprechen, um nicht das Risiko einzugehen, dieser Schönheit nicht gerecht zu werden. Aber eines können wir sagen, wir werden nie vergessen, wann wir das erste Mal die Sauna betraten und das Schauspiel der in Herbstfarben gefärbten Bäume vor uns präsentierte.

If all this were not enough, the Hotel Saltus spoils its guests with a fantastic heated Sky Pool from where they can admire the treetops and the Dolomites. Believe us, a swim here before breakfast or at sunset is something you can't miss.
