10 THINGS TO SEE in TODI
Piazza del Popolo
This medieval jewel has its square as its center, Piazza del Popolo, overlooked by the most important historic buildings: the Cathedral of the Annunziata, the Palazzo dei Priori, the Palazzo del Popolo and the Palazzo del Capitano.
Cathedral of the Annunziata
On the north side of the Piazza del Popolo the cathedral is easily recognizable by its squared facade and steep staircase. Inside, don't miss the fresco of the Last Judgment from the end of the 16th century.
Palazzo dei Priori
In front of the Duomo, on the opposite side of the square. Also in this case the facade is squared and massive. Inside, the frescoes in the Sala delle Udienze are worth seeing.
Palazzo del Popolo
One of the oldest municipal buildings in Italy. The Palazzo del Popolo, together with the Palazzo del Capitano, now houses the civic museum.
Palazzo del Capitano
This building too, like the nearby Palazzo del Popolo, dates back to the thirteenth century. Inside, the Sala del Capitano del Popolo, with fourteenth-century frescoes, and the Salone del Consiglio Generale are worth seeing. On the top floor you will find the collections of the civic museum and the art gallery.
Rocca of Todi
The highest point of Todi (411 meters). Today only the base of what was once a tower, known as the Mastio, remains of the fortress. The area hosts a large public park where you can walk and relax.
Temple of Santa Maria della Consolazione
On the road to Orvieto you cannot fail to see the majesty and grandeur of the church of Santa Maria della Consolazione outside the walls that surround Todi, right at the beginning of the road that goes up to the city.
Lucretia Monastery
The complex is located in the Nidola district, near the bishop's palace. Inside the monastery is housed the Lapidary Museum, a collection of stone materials that date back to a period that starts from the ancient age to the modern age.
Todi Art Festival
One of the most important cultural festivals in Italy which between August and September each year stages works of theatre, dance and music in three exceptional stages: Piazza del Popolo, the Teatro Comunale and the Lucrezia monastery.
Surroundings of Todi
Among the wonders to see near Todi we recommend: Massa Martana, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy a few kilometers from Todi, along the ancient Via Flaminia and at the foot of the Martani Mountains.
