THE NEW "WINGED LION" in Tarzo, Veneto by MARCO MARTALAR
After the Vaia Regeneration Dragon in Lavarone, the Lagorai Wolf, the Vaia Eagle near Grigno, the Vaia Griffon Vulture in Tesino, the Radicosaur in the Plaze Valley, and the Pradel Bear, here is another incredible work by Marco Martalar: the Winged Lion of Tarzo (TV). The sculpture stands between the Prosecco hills and the Revine lakes, a symbol of strength and rebirth, crafted from the wood of trees felled by Storm Vaia. Imposing and majestic, the Winged Lion, over 7 meters tall and 10 meters long, crafted from over 3,000 pieces of tree roots felled by Storm Vaia, seems to emerge from the surrounding nature like a silent guardian dominating the landscape, recalling the tradition and history of the Veneto region. A work that sparks the imagination, invites contemplation, and offers a new, evocative place to visit and photograph. As with all of Martalar's creations, this sculpture is temporary: the wood is untreated, and therefore destined to decompose and disappear over time, but it leaves an indelible mark on the imagination of those who admire it.

WHO IS MARCO MARTALAR?
The Winged Lion of Tarzo is not the first work of its kind created by artist Marco Martalar. In 2020, in Mezzaselva di Roana on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, where he lives, Marco created a Winged Lion using 1,500 pieces of shrubs and trees felled by Vaia. At three meters tall and 4.5 meters long, it became the largest Winged Lion in the world. Soon after, the artist achieved incredible success with the Vaia Dragon in Lavarone, "a majestic work, a symbol of resilience and courage." This was followed by the Lagorai Wolf, inaugurated in 2022, the Vaia Eagle, inaugurated in 2023, the Vaia Griffon of Tesino, inaugurated in 2024, and the brand new Vaia Regeneration Dragon, inaugurated in 2024. The Pradel Plateau Bear was also inaugurated that same year. Finally, among the most recent works, the evocative Radicosaur of the Plaze, in Val di Non, which emerges from Lake Santa Giustina like a fantastic creature.
