THE NEW "GRIFONE VAIA (VAIA GRIFFON) del TESINO" by MARCO MARTALAR
After the Winged Dragon of Lavarone, in Alpe Cimbra (province of Trento), the She-Wolf of Lagorai and the Vaia Eagle (near Grigno) here is another incredible work by the artist, this time in Castel Tesino, in the Celado area: the Vaia Griffon of Tesino. Like Marco Martalar's other works, the Grifone was also built with the wood of trees felled by the Vaia storm which destroyed a large part of the woods in Trentino and Veneto on the night of 29 October 2018. More than 2 months of work, 30 quintals and 2000 pieces and roots. The position of the work on the border between the two regions of Trentino and Veneto is not accidental, in fact the mythological figure of the Griffin wants to represent the fusion between the two regions, half Lion and half Eagle, the two symbols of the regions. Be careful though because the work will not last forever, the wood used, in fact, has not been treated and is therefore destined to disappear.

HOW TO GET TO THE VAIA GRIFFON of TESINO
It is possible to get to Grifone Vaia del Tesino by Car following the signs for Celado, in Castello Tesino. From here you can see the entire Tesino plateau and the summit of Cima d'Asta.

HOW LONG TO GO TO SEE the VAIA GRIFFON of TESINO
It takes about 1 hour to get to the Vaia Griffon del Tesino car park from Trento, while from Feltre it takes about 45 minutes. Once parked at the foot of the work, follow a path to reach the Griffon in less than 15 minutes.
WHEN TO GO TO SEE the VAIA GRIFFON of TESINO
The best time to see the Vaia Griffon of Tesino does not exist! It is a wonderful work in every season, like all the works of Marco Martalar. In summer and spring the Grifone Vaia dominates the green meadows of the Tesino plateau. In Autumn the landscape has truly magical colors and are perfect for photographs. In winter, on the other hand, the magic of the snow that whitens the landscape around the Grifone makes everything even more evocative.
WHO IS MARCO MARTALAR?
The Vaia Griffon of Marcesina is not the first work of this kind born from the hands of the artist Marco Martalar. In 2020, in Mezzaselva di Roana on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, where he lives, Marco created a winged lion with 1500 pieces of shrubs and trees felled by Vaia, which became the largest winged lion in the world, three meters high and 4 long, 5. Immediately afterwards, the artist achieved incredible success thanks to the Drago di Vaia, in Lavarone, "a majestic work, a symbol of resilience and courage", the Lupa del Lagorai inaugurated in 2022 and the Aquila Vaia, inaugurated in 2023.
