Ready to come with us to discover another particular accommodation? This time we go to Trentino but we climb a glacier. That's right, let's go and discover the Capanna Presena refuge at almost 3000 meters above sea level right on the snow of the Presena glacier. Don't let the name fool you, a Refuge yes, but a luxury one.. Eight Suites, a Spa, two Sky Rooms, an Igloo and an Ice Bar are just some of the things that the Capanna Presena Refuge offers its guests.

Richtig, auf geht's und entdecken Sie die Schutzhütte Capanna Presena auf fast 3000 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel direkt im Schnee des Presena-Gletschers. How to get to the Capanna Presena Refuge?
You don't need to be a skilled hiker, getting to the Capanna Presena refuge is very simple. Once you reach Passo del Tonale, leave your car in the (free) parking lot of the Paradiso gondola lift and start the ascent towards the glacier. Having reached the station of the Passo Paradiso restaurant, at an altitude of 2585 metres, take the Presena cable car to the intermediate stop Presena, right next to the refuge. The return ticket for those staying overnight at the Refuge costs 17 euros per person (price 2023) and also includes the last section of the Presena cable car which climbs up to 3000 meters, on the top of the glacier.
Wie kommt man zur Schutzhütte Capanna Presena?
Du musst kein erfahrener Wanderer sein, der Weg zur Schutzhütte Capanna Presena ist sehr einfach. Sobald du den Passo del Tonale erreicht hast, lass dein Auto auf dem (kostenlosen) Parkplatz der Gondelbahn Paradiso stehen und beginn den Aufstieg in Richtung Gletscher. An der Station des Restaurants Passo Paradiso auf 2585 Metern Höhe angekommen, fährt man mit der Seilbahn Presena bis zur Zwischenstation Presena, direkt neben der Hütte. Die Hin- und Rückfahrkarte für diejenigen, die in der Hütte übernachten, kostet 17 Euro pro Person (Preis 2023) und beinhaltet auch die letzte Sektion der Presena-Seilbahn, die bis auf 3000 Meter auf die Spitze des Gletschers aufsteigt.
For mountain lovers, the refuge can also be reached on foot. It starts from Passo Tonale and in about two and a half hours of walking you will reach your destination. We have chosen the most comfortable route, that of the cable car.
Für Bergfreunde ist die Schutzhütte auch zu Fuß erreichbar. Er startet am Passo Tonale und in etwa zweieinhalb Stunden Gehzeit erreicht man sein Ziel. Wir haben die bequemste Route gewählt, die der Seilbahn.

SKY ROOM - Sleeping in a Glass Bubble in the Mountains
We spent the first night in the Sky Room. The name already says it all: a glass bubble where you can sleep in front of the mountains and under a starry sky. There are two Sky Rooms and they are equipped with every comfort... heating, heated mattress, slippers and bathrobes for the Spa and a beautiful "digital" fireplace that makes the atmosphere even more magical.

Die erste Nacht verbrachten wir im Sky Room. Der Name ist bereits Programm: eine Glaskugel, in der man vor den Bergen und unter einem Sternenhimmel schlafen kann. Es gibt zwei Sky Rooms, die mit allem Komfort ausgestattet sind... Heizung, beheizte Matratze, Hausschuhe und Bademäntel für das Spa und ein schöner "digitaler" Kamin, der die Atmosphäre noch magischer macht.
After one of the most romantic nights of our lives, we were served breakfast right in our Sky Room. Sipping a good cappuccino while the glacier slowly came back to life with the arrival of the first skiers was a truly incredible experience.
Nach einer der romantischsten Nächte unseres Lebens wurde uns das Frühstück direkt in unserem Sky Room serviert. Einen guten Cappuccino zu schlürfen, während der Gletscher mit der Ankunft der ersten Skifahrer langsam wieder zum Leben erwachte, war ein wirklich unglaubliches Erlebnis.
IGLOO ROOM - Sleep in an Igloo in the mountains
You don't need to go to Lapland to sleep in an igloo, you can also do it in Trentino, right here at the Capanna Presena refuge. Sleeping in an Ice Room does not happen every day and is an unmissable experience.

Inside, the Igloo is full of decorations carved in ice and is equipped with a double bed (with pillows, blankets and heated mattress) and a smaller cot. Sleeping in an igloo is an experience you will always remember.
Im Inneren ist das Iglu voller in Eis geschnitzter Dekorationen und mit einem Doppelbett (mit Kissen, Decken und beheizter Matratze) und einem kleineren Kinderbett ausgestattet. Das Schlafen in einem Iglu ist ein Erlebnis, an das du dich immer erinnern wirst.

We spent the last night in one of the Capanna Presena Suites. Among the eight suites available, we were lucky enough to stay in the brand new Lago Scuro Suite.

As if that weren't enough, there is the option to dine in a private bubble for a romantic dinner at the foot of the mountains. A thousand lights, a bottle of bubbles and the gourmet menu from the refuge kitchen, how wonderful (thanks Francesco for the beautiful settings).

The days at the Refuge are full of activities. You can ski, go hiking, climb to 3000 meters up to the Panorama 3000 Glacier where you can admire the panorama and the surrounding mountains, enjoy a beer from the Ice Bar right outside the Capanna Presena Refuge, or simply relax in the wonderful Mountain Lodge Spa of the refuge.

Frequently Asked Questions about Capanna Presena?
The most frequent questions we received are: is there a bathroom in the Sky Room? or, is it cold to sleep in an Igloo? There is no bathroom in the Sky Rooms and in the Igloo but you have access to an area of the Refuge equipped with services and where you can comfortably leave your luggage. Furthermore, in both bedrooms you sleep very well despite the cold temperatures outside. Duvets, blankets, a heated mattress (and a small radiator in the Sky Rooms) allow you to enjoy the experience in the best possible way.
